Avian Paleoecology

Avian Paleoecology is the study of the ecological roles and environments of birds (avian species) throughout geological time, as inferred from fossil records and other archaeological evidence. This field combines aspects of paleontology, ecology, ornithology, and geology to understand how ancient birds interacted with their ecosystems, including their relationships with flora, other fauna, and climatic conditions. By analyzing fossilized remains such as bones, eggs, and traces of bird activity, researchers can reconstruct past habitats and life histories, shedding light on evolutionary processes, species adaptations, and the impacts of environmental change on avian populations over millions of years.
